Austin Beaver
A native of Scott City, Kansas, Austin has worked with Berning Farms for 12 years. He studied agronomy and ag business at Fort Hays State University after graduating from Scott Community High School. His work on the farm started in a part-time position and eventually moved up to a full-time position after college. His role as a team leader entails managing all of the daily operations. Among these responsibilities are preparing the team for the day’s work, running the spray rigs, filling in at harvest, and whatever else arises to support the farming operation.
A technologist at heart, Austin thrives on the constant technical challenges he faces in his position and has become the “go-to” guy for the farm’s complex technology. He admits that operating the spray rig is still one of his absolute favorite activities and he gets irritated when people take shortcuts and don’t own up to their mistakes. Austin is married to Shayna and together they have a newly born daughter, Collins Jo. An all-around good guy, he considers himself open-minded, approachable, optimistic, and has hopes of traveling to Maui, Hawaii one day.
